The Bombardier CRJ is a family of regional jet small passenger jetliners. It was created at the Canadair division of Bombardier Aerospace based on the Canadair Challenger bizjet (now Bombardier CHallenger). CRJ stood for "Canadair Regional Jet" and reinvented the regional jet sector. Currently the CRJ is one of three families of RJs dominating the sector, the other two families are Embraer E-Jets and Embraer RJs (both known as ERJs) The CRJ is complemented by the large single-aisle passenger jetliner CSeries.
