City of Bones is the eleventh novel written by Michael Connelly, and the eighth novel featuring Los Angeles Police Department detective Harry Bosch. The book was published on 16 April 2002, and won the 2003 Anthony Award and the 2003 Barry Award; it was also nominated for the CWA's 2002 Gold Dagger, but lost to José Somoza's the Athenian Murders. The phrase later appeared in the novel The Narrows, when Robert Backus thought of the burial site of ten of his victims as a "city of bones."
