Peer Group is a collection of hospitals with similar characteristics [i.e. size, equipment, etc.] where it has been established that those characteristics are relevant to the Benchmarking indicator. For example, it has been considered that BMET/CE staffing is directly correlated with bed size, so health care institutions may select a similar sized hospital as its peer group with similar bed sizes to compare their staffing. In this authors ionion, this is not an accurate measurement of FTE staffing levels .
