Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the bacteria Chlamydia trachomatis, which infects the genital tract of both men and women. Like most other STD's, Chlamydia responds well to antibiotics and is easily treated. However, the symptoms of the disease are often very mild and many people are not aware that they have it. As such, people at risk for the disease, or at risk for compilations, should be tested for it about once a year. This includes sexually active females under the age of 24, pregnant women, and anyone who engages in frequent unprotected sex.

Chlamydia affects about 4,000,000 people in the United States every year, about an equal number of men and women. It is rarely fatal, but can cause severe inflammation of the genital tract, urinary tract, and anus and can assist the development of secondary infections, including HIV and the human papilloma virus which has a role in cervical cancer. Due to the advancement of the field of medicine, there are already various ways of how you can treat Chlamydia infection. There are already antibiotics formulated which has the power to kill the causative agent of the condition. (source: Is Chlamydia Curable)
