  • Gubkinsky (Finn. Kukkinski) is a smallish Uralican city in southern Yamalia, only a short distance from the junction town of Purpe, which sits on Highway UH-22. Also, Highway UH-22A defines Gubkinsky's official city limits in the north as it runs towards its northern terminus (also Purpe). It is one of the youngest settlements in Uralica, only celebrating its 20th anniversary of founding in 2006 (and will celebrate its 25th in 2011). Founded as an oil and gas town, it still has deposits of these beneath it although the vast majority of the oil passing through its many refineries nowadays is imported. It is a centre of oil-based chemical production and plastic-making in Uralica, but as with all Uralican cities, has expanded outside of its initial industry. There is a small machine-building sector presently, however should the oil run out, Bolak Corp., Gornyak Uralica, YamalStal, UralMash, and six other small machine-building companies have spare factories, spare jobs in the currently-running factories, and re-training facilities for those working in the oil and gas extraction business ready to go. Besides machine-building, there are decent-sized textile and cement-making industries.
