The company was founded in 1988 as New Frontier and initially programmed games for ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, and MSX computer systems. The company changed its name to Bit Managers in 1992. In 1997, Bit Managers struck a deal with Acclaim Entertainment to develop several Turok spin-off games to Nintendo's handheld consoles; these games were tie-ins released alongside core, home console titles in the series.
