| - Tess Tirrell Johnson graduated from Parsons The New School for Design, in New York City, in May, 2011, with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Fashion Design, focusing on women's wear. She studied abroad at Parsons Paris School of Art and Design in the Fall of 2009. Furthermore into women's wear, Tess Johnson has experience designing shoes, handbags, jewelry, and gloves. In addition to Tess Johnson's work in the fashion industry, she has previous experience in costume design. Tess interned for American costume designer, Susan Hilferty for the Broadway theatre musical, “Wicked.” She continued to further her internship experience, first with "Tuleh", learning the techniques of pattern making, and then moved to “Dollhouse," designing technical packs and fabric prints for their denim collection. The following year, Tess focused once again on costuming, designing the long and short program costumes for United States Figure Skating Championships, and 2010 Winter Olympics team member, Jeremy Abbott. In 2011, Tess Johnson interned at Catherine Malandrino, assisting and designing knitwear for Malandrino, for the Spring 2011 collection New York Fashion Week presented at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. In June 2010, she designed shoes and worked with model fittings for the Catherine Malandrino and Mary J. Blige at the FAWN Benefit Show in the Museum of Modern Art. Tess Johnson was then offered an internship at Marc Jacobs in the Marc by Marc Jacobs shoe design department, working on the Fall 2011 collection. She also assisted model dressing for Ports 1961, for Resort 2012 Collection, which was presented at Ports 1961 showroom in New York City. In May 2011, Tess Johnson's designs were featured in Parsons Benefit Gala. One of Tess Johnson's design was shown at the Parson's Festival in New York City. One design look from her Senior Thesis Collection, was chosen by Saks Fifth Avenue to be displayed at their New York City Flagship store, in May 2011. In the Summer of 2011, Tess Johnson took the role as Project Coordinator for Via Spiga Shoes, at Brown Shoe Company. Tess gained experience in aspects of communication with factories overseas, sample orders, fit meetings, showroom assistant, and oversaw production and samples for the Via Spiga line. In January 2012 , Tess was selected as a contestant for 24 Hour Catwalk, a television fashion reality challenge show, on the Lifetime Network. Tess was the winner of the premiere episode, and her "Glamour Camping" runway Collection was chosen as the winning collection by New York Times Fashion Editor Derek Blasberg, Fashion Designer Cynthia Rowley, Fashion Publicist James La Force, and fashion icon and host, Alexa Chung. Tess Johnson is currently the Creative Director and Head Designer of Tess Johnson LLC, a high end women's wear brand.
