George Pál was a Hungarian-born animator and film producer. He was best known for his work for several science fiction films. One of the best known is The War of the Worlds where he served as producer with Byron Haskin as director, the first of four films the two would collaborate together on in the same capicity. He would later adapt another H.G. Wells novel, The Time Machine where he served as both producer and director. At the time of his death, he left a few projects unrealised, one of which was a proposed War of the Worlds TV series.
