In the story Kein Schnaps für Tamara, there is a young girl named Karlchen Fabrizius. Her real name is Karla, but her father thought that she was going to be a boy and was going to name her Karl. When she came out a girl, they named her Karla, but still call her "little Karl" (the english version of "Karlchen") to tease her. She lives with her father,Fabrizius, and her dog, Mowgli. She mets the main character of the story, Hans Obuch, one day when he shows up on her door step.
