  • The Dorvain General Election, 1928 was held on the 9th February 1928 to elect the 33rd Parliament of the Commonwealth of Dorvain. Each of the 125 parliamentary constituencies elected one Member of Parliament to Parliament. It was the first early election in Dorvain to be called, and the second not held on the 27th May. This was also the first time a party other than the Royalists or the Democrats won the election, with the Liberals winning a surprise majority. Harry Ford was struggling to lead a minority government and found himself incapable of passing any new laws. Due to this it was decided that he'd need to call an early election. Ford's government became unpopular due to its perceived incompetence. Meanwhile Jameson's Liberals were well organized and looked ready to lead a government. The Democrats under Jeremy Saxon made a small resurgence too, taking back many of its seats lost to the Socialists, as well as some from the other parties. It campaigned that in the likely event of a hung parliament it could enter a coalition with the Liberals in order to push for further anti-austerity measures, and persuaded many socialist voters to return to the Democrats for the national interest. This proved successful, however what wasn't foreseen was quite how many seats the Liberals would take from the Royalists. As such, Harvey Jameson became the first Liberal Prime Senator following the election.
