Synopsis
| - Superman and the Cleric experiment with the Eradicator, and from it he learns to come to grips with the guilt he had been feeling since he executed the Phantom Zone villains in the Pocket Universe, choosing to end his exile in space and return home.
- There is a revolt on Warworld, Superman learns about the Exterminator, and Matrix continues to masquerade as Clark Kent.
- Superman and Mongul battle on Warworld. Before a final victory can be decided, Superman is zapped off of Warworld by the Cleric.
- Superman has to fight various warriors on Mongul's Warworld, while a cleric who once preached on Krypton mindlinks with him and teaches him of Krypton's past.
- Superman meets Hfuhruhurr the Word Bringer.
- Superman, now exiled in space, reflects back on his life on Earth.
- Metropolis believes Clark Kent is dead, so Lex Luthor begins a plan to get back at Intergang for his murder. He also sends Jose Delgado after Emil Hamilton in order to re-employ him. Meanwhile, Superman struggles with a strange space-organism.
- Superman rescues an alien space ship fleeing its home planet, then investigates the planet to find it totally lifeless due to the Word-Bringer. Meanwhile, Lois Lane investigates another location which has been victimized by the Word-Bringer, Trudeau, South Dakota.
- Superman begins the voyage home, and in Metropolis, Darkseid's weapon, Turmoil, wreaks havoc.
- Superman is back on Earth after his exile in space. After visiting the Daily Planet, he battles Turmoil and Morgan Edge has a heart attack.
- Superman builds a home and farms on a planet resembling his native Kansas, only to have it destroyed by a flood and a tornado.
Lex Luthor is bored by the absense of his mortal enemy, Superman, and decides to take over STAR Labs.
- Superman finds himself losing oxygen and fighting illusions of the Phantom Zone villains from the Pocket Universe that he himself thought had killed through execution.
Lex Luthor continues his attempted takeover of S.T.A.R. Labs.
