Field Marshal Mohammed Aly Fahmy (11 October 1920 – 11 September 1999) graduated from the Egyptian Military Academy in November 1939. He was the commander of the Egyptian Air Defense Command from June 1969 to January 1975 and chief- of - staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces from January 1975 to October 1978. He participated in World War II, the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, the Suez Crisis, the Six-day War, the War of Attrition and the Yom Kippur War.
