They interact with them a lot (especially in the anime) in their Gigai, but if you remember when Rukia lost her powers at the start of the series, there are time limits on how long they can stay there and rules about what they can do. Isshin married Masaki, but Isshin lost his powers years before Ichigo was born. We do not know enough about this to be able to say if he was bound by any rules when he married Masaki.
