Vienna had been traditionally the capital of Austria since 1155. During the Austrian-Seljuk War (1505-09) the Rum-Seljuks invaded Austria and took Vienna. The city stayed under their yoke until 1574, when the Peace of Krems returned Austria to Württemberg-Carinthia.
