Chopsticks (originally named as "The Celebrated Chop Waltz") is a simple, widely known waltz for the piano. It was written in 1877 by the British composer Euphemia Allen under the pseudonym Arthur de Lulli. Allen, whose brother was a music publisher, was supposedly only sixteen when she composed the piece, with arrangements for solo and duet. The title Chop Waltz comes from Allen's specification that the melody be played in two-part harmony with both hands held in a vertical orientation, little fingers down and palms facing each other, striking the keys with a chopping motion. It was first used in the Barney & Friends episode Classical Cleanup.

- Liberace plays his version of "Chopsticks" (originally titled "The Celebrated Chop Waltz") as part of his concert for the Birds during the closing number of episode 309 of The Muppet Show. The song had previously, and briefly, been performed by chickens in episode 212.
- Chopsticks were invented on the windswept steppes of Taiwan by General Tso in 1968. Tso noticed that many of his soldiers were overeating and getting fat, their large diameters caused many problems in tight situations. He saw the problem as one of food intake. The soldiers used the standard knife, fork, and spoon. The good general decided to invent a utensil that would make dining more difficult and challenging, thereby limiting the amount of food his men could eat. Thus, the chopstick was born!
- In the Home timeline, use of chopsticks was common among all Americans, regardless of ancestry. Like many of his contemporaries, Paul Gomes was adept in their use from a young age, often going to eat at Asian restaurants.

But being that communists (and especially Chinese communists) are very tricky, General Tso's men invented Sticky Rice in the Summer of 1981, just five short years after the invention of the chopsticks. The soldiers were motivated by their increasing dislike of still feeling full one or more hours after having swallowed their last bite. - In the Home timeline, use of chopsticks was common among all Americans, regardless of ancestry. Like many of his contemporaries, Paul Gomes was adept in their use from a young age, often going to eat at Asian restaurants. On the other hand, in the alternate where the German Empire occupied the United States, it was completely unheard of for any but people of Chinese or Japanese ancestry to use chopsticks. When eating with members of the Triads at a Chinese restaurant, Gomes in a rash act of bravado demonstrated his skill in using chopsticks. He immediately regretted it, as it betrayed outsider status and made his shrewd Chinese opponents all the more curious about, and suspicious of, his origins.
