Betsy Norcross was a temporary identity adopted by Shadow Lass when she, together with three other Legionnaires, went back to Superboy's 20th century home in Smallville, to try to escape from Mordru the Merciless. Betsy stayed with Professor and Mrs Lang, the parents of Lana Lang. However, Mordru pursued the Legionnaires back in time and discovered them. They decided that running away wasn't, in any case, the right Legionnaire response to a threat, so they went back to the 30th century to face Mordru.
