The RG50 features a chambered basswood body bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot position markers. Components include Ibanez pickups with a Super 70 humbucker with Duo-Sound coil-tap functionality at the bridge and Super 7F single-coils in the neck and middle positions and a Powerocker Special tremolo bridge. The RG52 is a similar model with dual humbucking pickups. The RG53 is also similar but has three single-coils. The RG50 was offered only in Japan and was discontinued after 1986.
