| - Colonel Thomas Nelson is a character mentioned in Fallout 4.
- Thomas Dewey Nelson, Sr. (6?/8 July 1894?/1895 - 9 January 2007) was a verified American supercentenarian. At the time of his death aged 111/112? years, 185/187? days, he was the oldest man in the United States and the second-oldest if the US territory of Puerto Rico is included (Emiliano Mercado del Toro, who was living in Puerto Rico, was older and died 15 days after Nelson). While he is verified as born in 1895, a rechecking of his case suggested he was possibly born in 1894, as his 1900 census record lists his birth month as "July 1894"..

Born in Louisiana, he moved to Port Arthur, Texas and married a woman named Octavia. Together, they had 7 children. They opened a candy store in 1937 called Nelson's Confectionery. He finally closed the shop in 2002. Each year, on Christmas and on birthdays, he gave his children and grandchildren a $2 bill. On weekends, he visited his grandchildren and made oatmeal in the morning. He received congratulations from members of his local community and from U.S. President George W. Bush. At the time of his 111/112th birthday in July 2006, he had 21 grandchildren and "numerous great-grandchildren".
