Main Street. The city of Elmira and Chemung County voted against spliting the $750,000 cost of replacing the ice plant for the arena. The ownership of the arena has been trying to sell the arena and was hoping to split the cost in order to facilitate the sale. The arena could possibly go dark after the 2016-17 hockey season if either the financing for the ice plant or the sale of the arena does not come to fruition.
