(ST novel: Articles of the Federation) During the invasion of the Borg Collective in 2381, Safranski was tasked with setting up a diplomatic summit between the major Alpha and Beta quadrant powers; his efforts were thwarted by the fact that no one would accept their communications. When Admiral Leonard James Akaar informed the presidential staff that the Enterprise was following a lead at the Azure Nebula near the tri-border, Safranski anticipated the President's order to summon Ambassadors K'mtok and Kalavak. (ST - Destiny novel: Gods of Night) When the Borg Invasion of 2381 reached a critical stage, President Bacco called an emergency summit on Earth hoping to convince the various ambassadors to pledge support to an allied fleet to defend against the invading Borg Collective; Safranski personally retrieved Gorn Ambassador Zogozin, but was unable to collect the Tzenkethi Ambassador Emra, as the Tzenkethi Coalition recalled their diplomatic staff several days prior but did not inform anyone until they asked.
