The 2010-11 Reserves season was a relatively successful one for the second string Reds. Although they finished only 3rd in a group of five teams in the Premier Reserve League North Group B, they were only three points off winners Blackburn. They also made the semi finals of the two local cup competitions, losing on penalties to Preston in the Lancashire Senior Cup before falling to a heavy 4-1 defeat to Everton in the Liverpool Senior Cup. The team was coached by John McMahon, in what would prove to be his last before being replaced by Rodolfo Borrell for the 2011-12 season, and was captained by Andre Wisdom. A number of players caught the eye for the reserves in this season, perhaps most notably Suso, whose performances excited fans that he may be a future success for the first team.

The Reserves ended their season with their first participation in the Hong Kong 7s tournament. This is quite a unique tournament, in which Liverpool took just 10 players to compete in 7-a-side matches lasting just seven minutes (teams are reduced to 4-a-side if ties reach extra-time, in which case a golden goal settles the match). There are no offside rules and the pitches have a different layout. The Reserves did their team proud, sailing through their group and the quarter finals before crashing out to an extra-time semi final defeat to local team Kitchee. The team was coached through the tournament by Academy Technical Director, Pep Segura.
