He played junior hockey with the Winnipeg Rangers and Winnipeg Black Hawks from 1946-49. In 1949-50, Witiuk moved up to senior hockey with the Regina Capitals and Kamloops Elks. He played for the Edmonton Flyers of the Western Canada Senior Hockey League in 1950-51. In 1951-52 the Chicago Black Hawks signed him as a free agent and he saw action in 33 games for them. He also played for the St. Louis Flyers of the American Hockey League. Witiuk finished off his career with the Spokane Jets of the senior Western International Hockey League from 1967 to 1969.
