  • __TOC__
  • It was the Year of Slaughter, 1090 DR, and countless victims lay slain at the Battle of the Bones. Today the site contains layers of dry white bone, but at the time it was all blood and bile, oozing from each shattered corpse and saturating the fallen equipment. No amount of polishing has been able to restore any weapon retrieved from that dread place, or even begin to remove the taint acquired there. * Damage bonus: +d6 fire damage versus good * Enhancement bonus: +2 * On-hit: slow (DC=14) (50% / 2 rounds) * Required level: 11
  • The handaxe is similar to a hatchet in size and shape. The haft is usually made of wood or sometimes metal and is about a foot and a half long (45cm). The blade is single-edged and the back side may be unadorned, spiked, or have a peen. Handaxes are heavier than throwing axes and not balanced for throwing. An average handaxe costs 6gp and weighs 3lbs (1.4kg).

  • In Middle-earth handaxes are used by the Beornings, Dunlendings, some Dwarves, Hobbits, Umli and Silvan-Elves, the Woodmen, Woses and some Eriadorian Tribesmen. The Beornings and Woodmen also use a very large Axe with a broad head known as a Woodman's axe. Primitive stone handaxes are used by Trolls and primitive tribes of Orcs or Men (the DrĂ»ghu, for example).
  • Durability Max: 61.0 Weight: 1.3kg
  • The handaxe is smaller than most axes used for combat, and is most often used as an off-hand weapon. The handaxe mold requires 1 metal ingot. For the properties of exotic metals, see the Materials page.
  • - Game Encyclopedia There are two version of handaxe in-game. Both are identical only with blunt and point different. Edge is always the same.
  • A handaxe is an off-hand weapon. A character can use a handaxe to make attacks even while holding another one-handed weapon in the other hand, and can use the other one-handed weapon to make attacks even if it isn't an off-hand weapon. It is also a heavy thrown weapon, so a character can throw it to make ranged attacks, using Strength instead of Dexterity for ranged basic attacks. Ardents, avengers, barbarians, battleminds, fighters, paladins, rangers, wardens, and warlords are proficient with all military melee weapons, including the handaxe.
