5000 AD is the time period during which the Amy Rose story in issue 139, Future Distractions, takes place. Amy and Tekno are deposited on Planet Mobius in the year 5000 AD by the Ring of Eternity. In the future, the duo are revered as legendary heroes whose adventures are recorded on some of the top selling history chips. The girls initially find it difficult to work out what mission the Ring of Eternity has sent them on as everyone seems content, however it turns out that a criminal wearing electricity-sapping power-armour of his own construction, Gremlyn, is the target of the mission. In spite of the future's technology being far in advance of what Amy and Tekno are used to, they manage to defeat Gremlyn by borrowing an ancient catapult from a museum and flinging a boulder onto their foe.
