The ship class still shared similarities with its ancestor, as it still had the octuple barbette turbolaser cannons, but they were heavily armored. It also kept the five heavy turbolaser batteries used by its ancestor, but the other five batteries were replaced with five point-defense laser cannon batteries. There were thirty additional turbolaser cannons, twenty-two heavy ion cannons and twelve tractor beam projectors. These ships had a complement similar to that of the Emancipator class, with 72 starfighters in an overhead rack and another 12 TIE/Ae ships. They kept all their landing barges, walkers, and other vehicles. They also still carried a garrison base, twelve landing craft and eight shuttles.
