The Imperator II-class Star Destroyer was built with a heavily reinforced hull, stronger shields than the Mk.I model, and greater firepower. The first ships of this class began to appear in service several months after the Battle of Yavin. Several differences existed between the Imperial Mk.I and II, including the replacement of the tractor beam targeting array between the command tower's sensor globes, with a communications tower. These warships were robust enough to stay operational after being hit by all the ion cannons of an Executor-class Star Dreadnought during a broadside exchange.

- The Imperator II-class Star Destroyer is a first-rate ship of the line employed by the Galactic Empire, and one of the most powerful warships in modern service. Outgunned only by star-dreadnoughts and the heaviest of defensive battle stations, the Imperator II features vastly greater firepower than the Mk.I model, capable of destroying a Mon Cala Star Cruiser in a matter of seconds. A reinforced superstructure has yielded a thirty-percent increase in overall durability.

abstract
| - The Imperator II-class Star Destroyer was built with a heavily reinforced hull, stronger shields than the Mk.I model, and greater firepower. The first ships of this class began to appear in service several months after the Battle of Yavin. Several differences existed between the Imperial Mk.I and II, including the replacement of the tractor beam targeting array between the command tower's sensor globes, with a communications tower. Other new features were two parallel "claws" for grappling smaller starships placed in the ventral secondary docking bay, an option for gunners to eject from their station if it was about to be destroyed, and the transparisteel viewports on the main bridge being able to resist an impact of a concussion missile (even the missiles launched from a Victory I-class Star Destroyer). These warships were robust enough to stay operational after being hit by all the ion cannons of an Executor-class Star Dreadnought during a broadside exchange. Although the Mk.II Imperials required less crew than the Mk.I, but due to the need for weapons gunnery crew, the total crew-number aboard both sub-classes remained the same. From SW1ki, a Wikia wiki.
Comparatively rare in contrast to the Imperator I and Victory II Star Destroyers, these vessels only first began to appear in service shortly after the Battle of Yavin. Production ended during the post-Endor power struggle, when surviving instances of these vessels served as flagships for the most powerful of Imperial warlords, and did resume until the reign of Emperor Valak, who sought to replenish the depleted Imperial fleet. Today, Imperator II-class Star Destroyers continue to serve as flagships for the most important fleets in the Galactic Empire. The deployment of one to a sector fleet or task-force is a testament to the importance the Emperor places on the situation at hand, and the mere arrival of such a battleship in a combat theater may persuade rebel forces to withdraw rather than face its wrath.
