I think, for testing, the abuse filter should be installed here. Sysops can edit the filter and everyone can view it (this is for testing!) —I-20the highway 01:41, September 11, 2010 (UTC) File:Symbol support vote.svg Support I think that this is a good idea. It will give those of us who are unfamiliar with the abuse filter, an opportunity to learn how to use and edit it. It would require a request to Wikia staff to add mw:Extension:AbuseFilter and mw:Extension:AntiSpoof to our configuration; you can see at Special:Version that these are not installed at My English Wiki. Regarding user rights, we would probably want the associated user rights to be set up as follows:

Thanks! — SpikeToronto 08:05, May 11, 2011 (UTC) The Wikia Staff will be happy to help, I am sure! They are the only ones who can do that...so, you know what to do! (Special:Contact). Thanks for bringing it up! — Jempcorp {user page | talk} 18:43, May 11, 2011 (UTC). But, does that mean that you support or oppose the notion? Thanks! — SpikeToronto 20:14, May 11, 2011 (UTC) File:Symbol support vote.svg Moderate Support Is it really required? Testing the abuse filter is not completely necessary. But, I would like to be able to use that... Thanks! — Jempcorp {user page | talk} 19:11, May 12, 2011 (UTC). P.S. I won't be adding that to WikiKnow, as it doesn't seem to work correctly... Image:Pictogram voting comment.svg Comment: Strictly speaking, it is not needed here. Being a low traffic wiki, we do not attract a lot of vandalism. But, that was not the point … or at least that’s how I interpret I-20’s suggestion. This is a test wiki where we get to learn about all the various tools, etc. So, if we are going to learn about the edit abuse filter — without wrecking one at, for example, Wikipedia — what better place to do it than here? Thanks for your support J! — SpikeToronto 07:19, May 13, 2011 (UTC) File:Symbol support vote.svg Support - I think this would be a great place to get experience with this extension. — Jeff G. ツ 03:08, May 15, 2011 (UTC) File:Symbol support vote.svg Support – AbuseFilter definitely seems to be a nice tool that can be tested here. —mc10 (t/c) 02:59, June 30, 2011 (UTC) File:Symbol support vote.svg Support - Definitely. — Waterfox ~talk~ 22:22, August 13, 2011 (UTC) File:Symbol support vote.svg Support - Yup, I'd like to know how it works --Kangaroopowah -Briefing Room 19:15, September 3, 2011 (UTC) Image:Pictogram voting comment.svg Bureaucrat Note: This has grown to have overwhelming support with no opposition. I’ll try and get hold of Staff next week and get this in motion. Once it is activated, though, who would likle to volunteer to set it up and get it operational? (Instructions can be found at mw:Extension:AbuseFilter.) And, then draft a page for the Project namespace outlining how it operates, etc.? (An example can be found at Wikipedia:Edit filter (shortcut → WP:FILTER).) Thanks! — SpikeToronto 21:58, September 3, 2011 (UTC) File:Symbol support vote.svg Support - I think this would be a great idea as there is no way to safely test different filters. I currently have the abuse filter enabled on the wiki i mainly edit, but i can't test the filters i want as anons are blocked currently (should change soon) but I'm also concerned i could block thousands of users by mistake, where as on ATW most users are admins or at least have an account so anons filters can be tested in relative safety. It will also allow the admins on ATW to come together and share knowledge about filters there using or might be working on. Gracey91 ✉ 07:49, September 15, 2011 (UTC)
