Akira Yamaoka (山岡 晃, Yamaoka Akira) is a Japanese composer and producer of video games, who worked for Konami since 1993 until his resignation in 2009, after which he joined Grasshopper Manufacture's sound department. Best known for creating the music in the Silent Hill series, Yamaoka has also been responsible for the music heard in Grasshopper's own No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle and Shadows of the DAMNED. At Grasshopper, Yamaoka also composed the songs "Otomodachi, as you wake" and "Otomodachi, in the afternoon" as a tribute to the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake.
