Saint Thomas of Cori (June 4, 1655 – January 11, 1729). By the age of 14, he was in charge of his family after the death of his mother and father. It was therefore his responsibility to take care of his two sisters, and find them husbands. He always had a strong devotion to God, and so after they were married, he quickly gave himself fully to God as a Franciscan. On January 11, 1729 he died in his sleep. "He shines among us and in Rome above all in his thirst for a Christian and Franciscan ideal that is pure and lived in its essentials."

  • Saint Thomas of Cori (June 4, 1655 – January 11, 1729). By the age of 14, he was in charge of his family after the death of his mother and father. It was therefore his responsibility to take care of his two sisters, and find them husbands. He always had a strong devotion to God, and so after they were married, he quickly gave himself fully to God as a Franciscan. In 1683 he was ordained a priest, and was known for his simple, clear style of preaching the Gospel. He then joined a hermitage in Civitella (today Bellegra), where he lived to his death except for six years in which he was Guardian at the convent of Palombara. On January 11, 1729 he died in his sleep. "He shines among us and in Rome above all in his thirst for a Christian and Franciscan ideal that is pure and lived in its essentials."
