Synopsis
  • Flashback tale
  • Many years ago, Bouncing Boy appeared as part of a good will tour at the Spiral Arm Colony. There, he met a strange alien girl calling herself Comet Queen. Comet Queen wanted to join the Legion of Super-Heroes, but Bouncing Boy had difficulty understanding her unending use of slang terminology. To prove herself worthy of Legion status, Comet Queen took off towards the Lava Seas in search of the mythical remains of the alleged natives of Quaal-III. Bouncing Boy bounced off after her, afraid that the region would be too dangerous for the overzealous girl. He eventually caught up with her, but the two became trapped inside of an active volcano. Bouncing Boy and Comet Queen were forced to combine their powers in order to escape the venting plasma.
  • Cosmic Boy, Saturn Girl and Lightning Lad arrive at Legion Headquarters in Metropolis. They reunite briefly with Lightning Lass who shares a moment with her infant nephew Graym. The three founding members of the Legion talk about how much things have changed since they first established the team, and Cosmic Boy begins to feel old. Later, they travel to Glacier Point, Antarctica – a minimum security prison to monitor the release of two prisoners who have finished serving their sentences. These men are the assassins who originally attempted to kill R.J. Brande so many years ago. Cosmic Boy is disturbed by how passive they seem now. Back at Legion Headquarters, Bouncing Boy reviews various applicants in an effort to expand the team. [[W:C:DC:Superboy

quotation
  • I'm sticking with the Legion reserves - that's action enough for an old married man.
