| - "Session" is the twelfth track on Linkin Park's album Meteora. It is a rock instrumental with electronica and scratching elements added by Joe Hahn. In 2003 it was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance. It is worth noting that "Session" shares some similarities to a hidden track on "And One" off of Hybrid Theory EP.
- A session is
* a specified period of time that a user with a unique IP address spends on a Web site or the Internet.
* "a virtual connection between two hosts by which network traffic is passed."
- A Sesson refers to a typical operating time of one semester in SVCC. Thus, a single session typically runs 11 weeks (excluding pre and post session activities).
- The Session is a mini-game from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It is hosted by two Skull Kids found in an area of the Lost Woods found to the immediate right of the entrance; this area also contains a target hanging from a tree. Interestingly, when Link has provided another Skull Kid found in the forest with a Skull Mask, the ones hosting the Session will be wearing such masks as well, without any explanation given. It is likely that this is a programming error, however, as the extra Skull Masks are removed in Ocarina of Time 3D. To begin a Session, Link must stand atop a stump situated before a fallen tree, at which point the Skull Kids will appear, and then start playing his Fairy Ocarina or Ocarina of Time. The objective of the game is to play the same notes that the Skull Kids are playing; what series of notes Link must play are entirely randomly generated. For every time Link gets a note right, the series of notes is repeated, with a new note added for each time. The notes that Link must play is always repeated, played once by each Skull Kid. The first time Link takes part in a Session, Link must play five notes successfully. When Link completes the first session, he will receive one Green Rupee; The second time, he must play six. When Link completes this session he will receive one Blue Rupee. Once Link has completed the final stage, which involves eight notes, the impressed Skull Kids provide him with a Piece of Heart, and disappear. Occasionally, notes that are played coincide with the notes of the various songs Link learns throughout his adventure.
- The warden turned his head to look at the prisoner below him through the safety of the one-way mirror murmured that separated the two. He turned back to me. "Ah, doctor, I can tell you that he's a tough, ah, nut to crack." "Nut, eh?" I murmured, catching onto the warden's peculiar choice of words. "Have your men succeeded in peeking inside this nut?" The warden let out a sigh as the prisoner below him squirmed and started rambling. "How'd you like to have your brains fried-" "Words won't help, that's what I'm telling you doctor. Words just won't get past him." "So we..." the warden looked down, ashamed at words he never spoke. "Torture?" I offered. He nodded briskly, and then turned back to the prisoner. "He's like a possessed kid, y'know. Or maybe just a possessed person. I don't know. It just seems like he...knows more than he seems to know." The warden wetted his lips. They were totally dry. "More than he's supposed to know." "More than..." shivering, he removed his glasses from his face, "more than we know." As the guards drugged him, I asked the warden, "Did he just call me by my last name?" He shrugged. "I don't know, doctor. I just don't know." "Just one minute," the guard said as he typed in a series of numbers and letters into the small keypad on the metal door. I peeked over his shoulder. "You're not afraid that I'm going to know your secret password?" I asked as I tried to follow the incredibly complex code he was typing in. "Eh, I guess nobody could. Nobody but," he jerked his head into the general direction of the prisoner, "that dude." "What's so damn disturbing about that guy anyway? I mean, he's crazy and all-" "Yeah," the guard said as he spun around, his eyes wider than they should be when someone's entering a long password. "That's the part that scares me. 'He's crazy and all'. I know what you mean, doc. That 'and all' part." He spun around again, seeing if the prisoner was looking in his direction. He was grinning happily at the guard. The guard spun back with a tiny squeal. "He knows, he just knows everything. Every little thing we have up for him. Like the time we were going to make him talk by threatening to cut off his fingers- he just knew. He knows your every move, doc. You try to make him talk, he'll make you talk. You try to make him stop, he'll make you stop." "There's got to be an explanation." He laughed. "You try finding an explanation, doc. You be my guest." He keyed in the last few units of the code, taking care to devote all of his attention onto the keypad, afraid of seeing the prisoner again. "There's a few more doors after this one. You tell them you're the doc." I told them. As I walked through the maze of hallways leading to this prisoner, who was known simply as The Prisoner to the guards, the guard's words echoed through my mind. Crazy. All. Nobody. That dude. Was The Prisoner truly so dreaded? Was his name not to be mentioned, even in the highest reaches of the warden's office? I was going to find out soon. The last door consisted of another one of the thick, steel doors that I had encountered earlier, except that there was a machine-gun post pointing indifferently to the unmoving, dead door. A soldier manned the machine gun- well, he didn't really man it. All he was doing when I came in was reading a magazine. He was surrounded by a few soldiers, each unarmed and talking to each other, and a pile of rifles that, I presumed, would reach their respective soldiers' hands when the door the machine gun pointed to finally opened, and out came a man not wearing a normal black suit and tie (which was what I was wearing), but a man in an orange, bloodstained unifor- "Hey, hey, are you the doc? Doctor Arnold Maybell?" I jerked out of my daydream. What was that, anyway? Some sort of premonition? I had a growing feeling of dread planted inside of me the moment I looked at The Prisoner, and I was afraid that it would blossom now, making me run back through the halls without a sane mind and only fear to accompany me. But it didn't, for there was nothing to water it, and it wilted back into its original position, waiting, waiting for a carer. I nodded. The soldier manning the machine gun was still reading the magazine, not knowing about the scene unfolding around him. Instead, it was one of the soldiers talking that finally noticed me standing there and started the conversation. He vaulted over the pile of sandbags separating him and his buddies from the door. He reached out a hand to help me get over the sandbags. "No, I'm fine," I said as I stepped over the sandbags with ease. The soldier seemed to be a little uneased at this fact, but he walked toward the door anyway. "There are a few things you need to remember, doc," he told me as he punched in yet another line of code into the keypad of the door. The conversation the soldiers were having behind me continued on, offering some background noise to the little beep! the keypad was making. "The first thing is that you should never, ever, make this dude angry." "Why?" "You think it's a good idea for this psychopath to be angry, doc?" he snapped. "Anyway, the second thing is to never, ever get close to him. And don't ask me why. You should already know." I nodded. The plant inside me was growing once more. The gardener was back, and he brought with him an entire water tank. "Three, never, ever give this guy food for thought. Like, 'think on that', or 'did you ever...' No. God knows what he'd do with these ideas. Ideas. It's like damn food for this guy. "And, finally, never, ever, go against these things." he stood up, stretching from bending over and squinting for so long. I was about to ask why when he cut me off. "You don't want to know, doc. You don't want to know why. Just pull down the handle and in you go. You'll get used to the smell after a while," he added as an afterthought. I thanked him and gripped the cold knob. "Hey, doc." I looked back at him. The soldiers were now on full alert; he was the only one still unarmed and talking. "You having more than one session with this guy?" I thought about this for a while. Then, slowly, regretfully, I nodded. The door closed behind me with a sudden bang!. I stared at the young man in front of me. No more than 20. Fresh out of college. Acne still gleaming on his cheeks. A child prodigy. And in here for a mass murder, rape, and about five other charges too disturbing to recite here. I swallowed. He grinned. "Hello, doc," he whispered. And somehow I heard that whisper, even though he was a good 20, 30 meters away from me. I took out the tape recorder from my pocket and walked towards him. He was sitting on a chair, on one end of a table. My chair was on the other. I felt the weight of dozens of hopes and eyes weighing me down from the mirror near the ceiling. I placed the tape recorder on the table, and pressed the red button that signified its starting to record the various sounds around it. "Hello, Charles. I'm Doctor Maybell," I murmured. He seemed to have caught onto my mistake and grinned even wider. "Oh, tripping up on our first few seconds, aren't we?" he asked, the words coming out of him seeming too polite to be held in such a man. I cleared my throat. "Shall we begin our session?" FRAAANK!!! 17:23, January 1, 2013 (UTC)
- 18:40 : The Aftermath is kinda underwhelming, really. The Elder Lunar congratulates Lost_, before inviting him (or the other Solar of his Circle, presumably) for a cup of tea 'in the future'. 18:40 : Regardless you are all now in the Manse. Lost_ just got back from his errand - his mate apologizes, before leaving to help guide the rescued Lunar. Peerless doesn't seem to be present. Perhaps he is at the brothel. Who knows? 18:40 : There are still several threads that can be followed. It's amazing how much going on in the background at the city this small. What do you want to do? 18:50 Dusk had been spending the day by examining the use of Impenetrable Disguise and checking if the disguise he took had any effect to his own physical ability. 18:52 *** Shadell joined #exaltedrpsvic 18:52 *** Shadell is now known as Spider 18:52 Spider disguises herself as an em.... pale-skinned woman in dark clothing with skulls on it that reveals way too much skin. 18:54 Lost_ disguises himself as.....himself. Having spent five whole minutes doing so, he looked pretty damn good if he does say so himself. 18:59 Dusk jumps down from the second floor to where the others are in the disguise of a thin looking teenage boy with dark hair. 18:59 : "Going somewhere?" 18:59 : "So, what does you say? We can investigate the area where Violet Soul was attacked." 19:00 : "Investigating the futility of the human condition by looking at the mere transitory locations of various ghosts" 19:02 : "Blood. Dripping downward. My heart beats gushing out truth through my opened wrists. But no one sees. Scars buried in false laughter. Hypocracy." 19:02 Spider receits her 'poem' with a note of dismal profoundity. 19:02 : "Good morning spider. You seem a lot more saner today." I say cheerfully. 19:03 Dusk raises an eyebrow at Spider's words but only shrugged. He was getting used to Spider's eccentricity. 19:04 : "You don't understand me." 19:06 : "Yes we don't. We have in our possession a wonderful thing canned sanity. You should try it sometimes." 19:06 : "I'd prefer it that way, I don't think it's healthy for me if I can fully understand you." 19:06 : "You don't know what it's like to be me. To be hurt, to be lost... to be left out in the dark, to be kicked while you're down... to be on the edge of breaking down." 19:07 Lost_ was not frustrated with Nia's visit. Not one bit. Nor was he deeply regretting his oaths. 19:10 Spider moves on! 19:10 Dusk shakes head. 19:10 : "I'm not sure what you are doing..." 19:11 : The place where Violet encounter the creatures is located at the east of the city. Surprisingly, it looks like a trail - not terribly well-traveled, perhaps, but it is a trail nonetheless. 19:11 : The trail itself... well, it looks like abandoned, but it is better to say it was once abandoned, then used again, before being abandoned... and so on. 19:11 : According to Violet, there're small clearing close to this. Still, the fresh grave (plus urn) near the trail is quite interesting, though. 19:13 : "I keep pretending I can handle everything You’ll never understand me And I don’t care what you think Or maybe I do" 19:14 Spider stoops to examine the grave. She brought a parasol with her to make sure the sun didn't actually get on her skin of course. 19:14 Dragon_ looks around 19:14 Dusk looks around too 19:15 Lost_ looks around and then bends down, trying to keep an eye out for dangerous things. 19:16 Dusk looks around for the clearing. 19:24 *** Spider quit (Quit: Leaving.) 19:25 *** Shadell joined #exaltedrpsvic 19:26 *** Shadell quit (Client Quit) 19:27 *** Shadell joined #exaltedrpsvic 19:34 : Spider: The grave is simple - someone digs it up, put whatever need to be buried, then close it. A stick is put to mark the grave - no epitaph you can see. It is quite fresh, though, which means someone must do the whole burial things, and s/he might not be far. 19:34 : Lost_: The place is inauspicious. You wonder how the hell the place can be this inauspicious, since it appears it is not manipulated, but still. The Essence flow is all wrong. You think the source of this is somewhere on the north. 19:34 : Dusk: It is quite easy to find the clearing - a bit of wilderness never put you off before, and it doesn't take long to see the clearing. You can see another ruins, abandoned, at it. ...you think you see a flash of... something, at the corner of your eyes, but you aren't sure. 19:35 Dusk frowns, ascertain that the flash is not just an imagination. 19:36 : "Well friends. We are certainly in a situation. I can sense the essence flow for the area and let me tell you that it is.....weird. I can't tell just what is wrong but the source is north of here." 19:36 : "The person who made this shouldn't be too far." 19:37 : "Found the clearing, there's a ruin in it," I said. "Do you want to poke around the grave and ground some more?" 19:38 : "North then?" 19:38 : "Probably. I dare say that all our observations would lead to the same conclusion." 19:40 : "So far, no ghost is around, we'd probably find them when we enter the ruins then." 19:41 : "Dragon_ do you have anything to add?" 19:42 : "No, I don't." Dragon say as she looks over the grave. 19:42 : "Very well then. Let us be off." 19:48 *** Shadell1 joined #exaltedrpsvic 19:51 : Lost 19:52 *** Shadell quit (Ping timeout: 272 seconds) 19:53 : Lost_: You narrowed your eyes, and then you realized there are dozens of small stones scattered across the clearing. ...you have a bad feeling about this. Well, maybe - you can sense the foul presence just ahead, but while it is foul, it is not entirely hostile. Looks like it waits for your group to respond, though it's still too early for it to manifest. 19:58 : As I close in towards the clearing I open my third eyes and look at the world before me. Every grass, every tree, every gust of wind. I take all of it in and ignore it as I look towards the underlying currents of essence. The world beneath the world. I extend my sight and see as the least gods of the clearing cover before the foul presence that was laying in 19:58 : wait before us. Yet the relation was strange. They were frightened by the twisted being yet that was all. The situation before me was most curious indeed. 20:04 : Lost: The ruin seems obscured by necromantic Essence, but that's merely a footnote of what you can see - the whole clearing, it seems, is a mass grave. A really old mass grave, perhaps dating back to first age, but a mass grave nonetheless. The one in front of you is a Spirit - perhaps even a God, though... there are too many necrotic Essence in it's 'body'. 20:04 : It doesn't seem to be hostile, though it is quite impatient. 20:05 : "Well then friends. Shall we go see what the yonder spirit before us wants?" 20:06 : "A spirit?" 20:07 : "Or a corrupted God or even a ghost. I can't tell for sure just yet." 20:07 : "Is it here?" 20:08 : "It's not like it would understand my suffering!" 20:08 : "I don't see anything, are you sure that's safe?" 20:08 Shadell1 advances toward it anyway. 20:08 *** Shadell1 is now known as Spider 20:09 : "Dealing with spirits tend to end similar with dealing with the Guild." 20:10 : The Spirit frowns toward Spider, before signalling toward the ruin. Maybe it wants to meet there? 20:10 : "Well then." I say loudly. "You now have our attention Spirit, kindly reveal your self." 20:11 Spider walks toward the ruin. 20:14 : "Sigh. Always rushing in where fools fear to thread." I mutter and follow spider. 20:15 : "Into the darkness we go," I rolled my eyes and glanced at Dragon_. "After you." 20:23 : The Spirit-thing guide you toward the entrance of the ruins - it is, unsurprisingly, underground. It lets enter first, before entering itself. Then it manifestt. 20:24 : The thing is a strange sight. It looks like someone mashed elemental - earth, maybe? With ghost. Well, maybe not actual ghost, and thus not actual soul, but... close enough. If you squint. Rearlly, really, hards. It still doesn't speak, but it points deeper, downward, in the ruin. 20:25 : You can spot several mutilated corpses. You don't think you've seen those kind of people, though... hell, it looks more like preserved than fresh corpses. Makes you wonder. 20:26 : "Right. Dragon. Burn. Those.Corpses. Now." 20:31 *** Shadell joined #exaltedrpsvic 20:31 Dragon_ steps towards the bodies taking care of where's she's putting her feet. Well at the bodies she puts her hand at their forehead or chest and murmurs a prayer to the Unconquered Sun as the bodies bursts into golden flame. 20:33 : "Thanks, Dragon. Now there will be fewer things to worry about." 20:33 *** Spider quit (Ping timeout: 258 seconds) 20:33 : The Spirit nodded toward Dragon_, seemingly grateful. It gestures deeper in the dungeon, makes a complicated motion that seems imply 'big', 'lots', and 'careful', before pointing toward itself and makes slashing motion. 20:35 Dragon_ bows towards the spirit. "Are there dangers further in?" 20:39 : It makes another complicated motion. Yeah, of course there is - what do you expect? The meaning of slashing motion kinda disturb you, though 20:43 *** Dragon_ quit (Quit: Leaving.) 20:44 : "Well, then. Shall we risk it and go in?" 20:45 : "Hmm" 20:45 *** Shadell is now known as Spider 20:46 : "Falling into dark, never-ending pain..." 20:46 Spider taps the floor meaningfully. 20:47 : "Shatter the floor and break these harsh illusions. Defy society that tells you what to do." 20:48 : "It looks like we'll get our answer further in, I don't know what kind of a risk waiting us other than a spirit warning." 20:59 : It isn't a very long walk down, but it's quite tense. Fortunately, Dusk quick reflex managed to disarm most of the traps, and combined with Lost_ sorcery sight, waylaid any ghost that tried to bar your path. 21:00 : You find yourself in a rather big, mostly empty, workshop. Corpses strewn everywhere - seems like it concern necromantic procedure...
- The Session is a common Hyperion shotgun. The Session is obtained randomly from any suitable loot source.
