  • The Senate was led by a Viceroy, elected by a vote of the Senate from amongst its delegates. He had little real authority over the Senate other than prerogative to call for a special session and could be removed by a vote of no confidence; basically the same role that the Supreme Chancellor of the Old Republic once had. Every six years, a Senator would be elected from each planet in the Union and sent to Coruscant to serve in the Second Galactic Senate. As required by the Union's Constitution, a person had to have attained the age of thirty to become a Senator candidate. The Viceroy alone held the power to break a tie in the Senate, but only if the votes in the Senate were equally split.
