Ernest Bevin was a british politician and trade unionist who served as Chancellor of the Exchequer (1945 - 1951) under Clement Attlee. A lifelong trade unionist, he only entered parliamentary politics in 1940. He was appointed Chancellor by Attlee after labour's victory in the 1945 election.
