The Michigan Wild are a USA Hockey-sanctioned ice hockey team from Farmington Hills, Michigan based out of the Farmington Hills Ice Arena. The team was founded in 1995 as the Royal Oak Royals at the Tier III Junior B level. In 1998, the organization joined the Central States Hockey League as the Wayne Wheels. In 2003, they changed names again to the Michigan Ice Dogs. In 2008, the organization dropped back to Junior B in the Great Lakes Junior Hockey League. The team was dropped from the United States Premier 3 Hockey League in mid-September of 2016.

The team joined the Midwest Junior Hockey League in 2012 as the Michigan Ice Dogs based out of the Wayne Ice Arena in Wayne, Michigan. The team relocated to Famington Hills after the 2012-13 season. The team retained the Michigan IceDogs name until after joining the United States Premier Hockey League along with the rest of the Midwest Junior Hockey League membership for the 2015-16 season. The team was dropped from the United States Premier 3 Hockey League in mid-September of 2016.
