He played junior hockey for the Niagara Falls Flyers from 1969 to 1972 and was chosen 118th overall by the California Golden Seals in the 1972 NHL Amateur Draft. Turning pro in 1972, Meeke never made it as a regular with the Seals. He played most of his career until 1977 in the minors with the occasional call-up to the NHL. In 1976-77 he got into 49 games with the Cleveland Barons. He was forced to sit out 1977-78 because of injuries. In 1978-79 Meeke moved to Germany to play for Adler Mannheim for three seasons and retired in 1981.
