The 2015 Atlantic hurricane season is a current event in the annual tropical cyclone season in the northern hemisphere. The season officially begins on June 1, 2015 and ends on November 30, 2015. These dates historically describe the period each year when most tropical cyclones form in the Atlantic basin and are adopted by convention. However, the formation of tropical cyclones is possible at any time of the year. The first storm of this season, Ana, formed on July 7, and the last dissipated on October 29th. The most significant cyclone of the season was Danny, which became a violent category 5 hurricane, hitting the Yucatan peninsula and the Gulf coast of Florida as a category 5, before hitting the Eastern Seaboard as a record-breaking category 4 hurricane, breaking many pressure records
