The story has been adapted for television as an episode of Suspense (1952), as "The Case of The Purloined Letter" (1979) with main characters recast in an episode of the Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson series, and as "The Pawloined Paper" (1988) for the children's series Wishbone with a canine title character.
