Professor James Gellar (Passenger) is an imaginary character in DEXTER. Gellar acts as the physical manifestation of Travis Marshall's Dark Passenger, much in the way that Brian Moser acted on Dexter Morgan's side. He is the voice of Travis's darkness when Travis is on his "good personality", though he does appear to the "dark personality" following the realization for Dexter that the actual Professor Gellar has been dead all along.

  • Professor James Gellar (Passenger) is an imaginary character in DEXTER. Unlike Dexter, Travis actually believes that Gellar is still alive and is convinced that he is the one responsible for the Doomsday Killings. When in reality, it is Travis himself who enacts each sign from the Book of Revelation. Any time that Travis's good personality is shut out, he acts in the same way that this Gellar behaves...a ruthless, murderous man who views the rest of the world as sin that deserves to be wiped clean for the new world. Gellar is able to interact with the environment and is often seen as a living person living out his usual hobbies. This can be seen as the same way Dexter Morgan and Brian Moser were portrayed together. Brian ate, changed clothing, even "killed" a man at one point. Harry Morgan never acted in this way and simply stood on as an adviser, suggesting that the reason Gellar and Brian were able to interact so much with the environment suggests the "level of control" they "have" on Travis and Dexter. Dexter fought off his passenger and accepted the Light side, however Travis's attempt was unsuccessful as the damage has already been done...he has a dual-personality disorder which makes him act as if he were Gellar himself. Dexter isn't quite there just yet, but if he is unable to control his life he may end up at that point. The passenger of Gellar is later destroyed when Dexter kills Travis.
