Mantooth debuted in 1949 at Charlotte, competing in the series' first race. Starting positions in the field of thirty-three are unknown, but Manooth ended the day with a midpack 16th place effort. Mantooth was unable to improve when he returned to the sport in 1956, competing at Wilson. Starting 31st in the field of thirty-two, Mantooth had an engine let go early in the event and wound up finishing in 31st.
