Chris then has a memory of a grave of his old partner, Jill Valentine, who appears to be dead. Together, the two individuals attempt to rendezvous with the BSAA's Alpha Team, who were attempting to intercept supposed B.O.W. smuggler Ricardo Irving. However, the two encounter two villagers of Kijuju infecting another with the Plaga and the two villagers then retreat, leaving the pair to defend themselves from the infected villager and Chris attempted to subdue him however he got back up and tried to use a crowbar on him, so Sheva shot him in the head to save Chris. the two then witness their local contact, Reynard Fisher, get executed and are forced to fight the large crowd of aggressive townspeople. The pilot Kirk Mathison then arrived to eliminate the crowd with an RPG-7, saving the agents. Eventually, they find Alpha Team Captain Dan DeChant, the only remaining member of the team. Fatally wounded, DeChant warns them of Irving's betrayal and gives them a file. Moments later, the two find themselves face-to-face with a bizarre and dangerous creature, seemingly made up of leech-like worms. Destroying it with an incinerator, Chris and Sheva send a newly acquired data to HQ, soon meeting up with West African BSAA Delta Team. Captain Josh Stone, leader of Delta Team, gives Chris a memory card containing images of research material. Among these images are Jill who was presumed dead. Chris and Sheva search for Irving, still determined to discover Jill's fate.
