The Circle of Fire was created by Hera. It had the power to kill immortality. When Hera stole the Eternal Torch from Prometheus she hid it within the Circle of Fire to make sure no one could get it back. Hercules knew the cost and still chose to enter the Circle to retrieve the torch. Zeus interceded on his behalf and Hera backed down, allowing the torch to be given back to Prometheus. Later, Hercules took fire from the circle to create a second one which he used to cure his friend Cheiron's wound and make him mortal.

Text
  • "Your words are harsh, Rona, but I see your point."
  • "Septa Eleanor, I am sorry you had to hear something so barbaric. Are you well?"
  • "The hardest ice softens in a fire's warmth. Even Dothraki can be tamed."
  • "A little of both. A history that's been in the writing as long as history itself, it sometimes seems. Something every Maester envies, in our way."
  • "I take your meaning, Rona. Few deny Aerys was mad. But Viserys? Now we'll never know."
  • "Aerys burned Rickard alive, my [lord/lady], and the torture of Brandon Stark was even worse. Houses suffer when madness rules."
  • "There's no time to read past history when new history's in the making."
  • "So Viserys is burnt. Let us not forget what King Aerys did to Rickard and Brandon Stark. There is a knight who writes history is an endless circle."
  • "Lucas, what of this knight Rona mentions? Is this philosophy or merely rambling?"
  • "This is a tale to prickle thumbs. These Dothraki! I thought the princess might tame them, but now? I expect they'll never be more than beasts."
