| - Kuchisake-onna (or "Slit-mouth Woman") refers to both the traditional Japanese myth of a mutilated woman and an urban legend loosely based on such.
- Kuchisake-onna (口裂け女 which translates into "slit-mouth woman") is a demonic spirit from a Japanese urban legend of the same name. She is recognisable by her horrendous slit mouth and her character is presumed to be based from older Japanese mythological beings.
- Kuchisake-Onna was a fabled dokufu (mountain spider) in the tale the Kiss of the Kuchisake-Onna, one of the most popular stories collected in the Hyakumonogatari Kaidenkai, a comprehensive monogatari of popular Kwaidan.

A slit-mouthed ghostly woman also appears from behind the victim, whom soon becomes paralyzed. The user is then mutilated slowly. Whilst feeling the entire pain of having their limbs removed from them, the victims are incapable of falling asleep nor are they capable of death. Their very own flesh is then eaten before their very own eyes, before the woman begins to bulge out the tongue of the target, and then the eyes. After that, the target becomes incapacitated. Releasing the technique through merely stopping one's chakra flow is fruitless, as the illusion is cast through their surroundings.

She wears a surgical mask, and she will approach people and ask shyly: “Anata wa watashi ga utsukushii toomoimasu ka?” (Do you think I'm beautiful?) The person usually responds, "Yes". She then pulls down her mask to reveal an ear to ear grin, cut by her jealous husband to mark her for her life. “How about now?” she will persist. If you answer no, she will reveal a pair of scissors and kill you. If you answer yes, she will cut the same smile onto your face.

- Eine japanische Legende besagt, dass einst in der Heian-Zeit (794-1185) ein Samurai lebte, welcher eine wunderschöne Frau hatte. Sie war jedoch auch sehr eitel und er wusste nicht, ob sie ihm treu war. Er war ein sehr jähzorniger Mann und eines Nachts verlor er die Beherrschung. Mit seinem Schwert schlitzte er ihr den Mund von Ohr zu Ohr auf, damit niemand mehr sie schön finden möge. Männer tötet sie auf grauenvolle Art und Weise, Frauen dagegen macht sie zu einer neuen Kuchisake-onna, verflucht, von nun an selbst Nacht für Nacht durch die Straßen zu wandern.
- Seither streift ihr Geist besonders an nebeligen Nächten durch die Straßen von Japan. Früher soll sie ein Seidentuch, einen Fächer oder den Ärmel ihres Kimonos vor ihrem Mund gehalten haben, heute trägt sie einen OP-Mundschutz, was in Japan gar nicht mal so unüblich ist. Sie erscheint vor ihren Opfern und fragt ganz schüchtern: „Findest du mich hübsch?“ Für gewöhnlich antworten die Leute, verzaubert von ihrer Schönheit mit „Ja“.
