Rigorism is a moral theory that when there is a conflict between an opinion favoring the law and an opinion favoring liberty, the opinion favoring the law should prevail. Followers of Jansenism taught an absolute rigorism, also known as tutiorism, which was condemned by the Roman Catholic Church through Pope Alexander VIII in 1690.
