Other credits as storyboard artist include James Cameron's science fiction sequel Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), Steven Spielberg's fantasy adventure Hook (1991), Francis Ford Coppola's horror film Dracula (1992), the horror film Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994), the short comedy Taking the Wheel (2002), and the fantasy adventure Peter Pan (2003). More recently he worked as concept design supervisor on the science fiction film John Carter of Mars (2010).

As concept artist he worked on the three latest Star Wars films; Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999), Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002), and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005). In the first movie he also had a small cameo part as Orn Free Taa's Aide. McCaig also worked as concept artist on the fantasy sequel Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005) and for Ninth Ray Studios on the fantasy film Charlotte's Web (2006) and the science fiction film Outlander (2008). More recently he worked as concept design supervisor on the science fiction film John Carter of Mars (2010).
