It is a phenomenon that causes the body to lose its Mana, although the causes behind it have not been elucidated yet, since it is known to break out so rarely. It is also believed to be connected to the desertification of the world, although no proof has been found yet. However, the characters that turn into sand during the story aren't affected by this disease. Most are caused by Hugo's Divine Judgement weapon, but Heiss also kills his Shadows with this method, after they serve his purpose.
