Tom and Jerry were a team of radio announcers for the Toronto Blue Jays from 1981 to 2005. Tom Cheek had begun announcing for the Blue Jays in 1977, with Early Wynn providing color commentary until the end of 1980. Cheek's next long-term partner, Jerry Howarth, joined him partway thru the next season. For 25 years they worked as a pair — except for a period as a threesome with Gary Matthews in 2000 and 2001 — until Cheek's brain cancer, diagnosed in 2004, forced him to retire in 2005, with Howarth taking over play-by-play and Warren Sawkiw doing analysis.
