The New Yen (sign: ¥; code: EAY) is the official currency of the East Asian Federation. It is the third most-traded foreign exchange currency in the world after the Everetti Dollar and the euro. For maximum efficiency and value, the new yen is fully digital. There is no paper or coin money. Each Federation citizen is issued a FedPass Card at birth, which is linked to a bank account provided by a different corporation depending on the citizen's location of residence. FedPass Cards are accepted everywhere inside of the Federation. Outside of the Federation, the FedPass is used like a credit card, with funds being withdrawn from the user's account. Users can have multiple accounts for different reasons, and temporary FedPasses if they wish to not carry around all of their money at once.

The total sum of new yen available for global use is set by the East Asian Monetary Bureau, and cannot be changed without the consent of at least three top-level finance officials: the Chief Executive, the Chief Legislator, the State Economy Officer, the State Development Officer, and the Monetary Bureau Administrator. Transactions in New Yen are processed by the Centralized Financial Transaction Cluster, or CFTC. The total amount of New Yen available for use is coded into the transaction system to reduce the chances of error. International systems making transactions in new yen interface with the CFTC to confirm the total amount of new yen available at any time.
