In the early morning hours, after the theft of The Two Georges, a reporter for the paper disturbed Colonel Thomas Bushell's attempts to sleep by telephoning him for an interview. Bushell resignedly declined to do so. Later that morning, the headline in the paper screamed of the theft with four exclamation marks. A second, smaller headline announced the murder of "Honest" Dick (calling him "Tricky" Dick, the only paper to do so).
