Cormanthor is a great wooded realm surrounded by the Dalelands. Once the seat of power for the elven empire of Cormanthyr, it has now mostly been abandoned by the elves after the loss of Myth Drannor and the Retreat. It is inhabited today by smatterings of the Fair Folk as well as the various sylvan races that have always lived there, and more recently, a discovery of drow.

  • Cormanthor is an ancient forest realm in the fictional fantasy setting of the Forgotten Realms. Cormanthor was long the place of the elven empire of Cormanthyr, Cormanthor being both the name of the forest and of the capital. After the Elven Retreat only a small number of elves remain, with the main part of the population leaving for Evereska or Evermeet.
  • The forest of Cormanthor was long the place of the elven empire of Cormanthyr. It is a large, dense forest south of the Moonsea made up of a variety of species of plants, including some trees that can grow over 100' (30m) high deep in the woods. It is largely abandoned today because of the Elven Retreat, when over 90% of the elven inhabitants left for Evermeet or other places in the west. It remained a large mysterious forest with old secrets for many centuries and only recently, with the revival of Cormanthyr, has it come alive again. __TOC__
