Fire Officer Wayne was one of the emergency crews who were deployed to the Street in December 2010 when it was rocked by an explosion from The Joinery bar, followed by a derailed tram from the wrecked viaduct. Following the eventual collapse of the viaduct which killed Ashley Peacock, the Officer reported to the Watch Commander that one of their colleagues, Bob, was still down at the area of the collapse. Later on, he was told by the Commander that a Taxi Driver who had been near to The Joinery when it exploded had also died. Wayne knew the driver as a fellow fan of Weatherfield County FC and that he had left behind three kids. He was the first officer to reach Rita Sullivan trapped in The Kabin and began her successful rescue.
